LoRa

LoRa             LoRa is a technology that has been developed by Cycleo and marketed essentially by "Semtech".  It offers a physical layer allowing a long range wireless communication with long range, low data rate and low energy consumption.             LoRa can be used with public, private or hybrid networks to achieve a greater range than range than cellular networks. LoRa technology is widely used in the in the world of the Internet of Things (IoT).            In particular, it allows the transmission of low-volume data through fixed, low-cost sensors that run on batteries for 5 to 10 years.  The LoRa protocol is the type of modulation used between two "LoRa Devices" or between a "Device" and a "LoRa between a "Device" and a "Gateway".            When we talk about the whole communication chain, then we talk about LoRaWAN protocol: ...

IoT Gateways

Image
IoT gateways and their central role in the Internet of Things IoT gateways fulfil several roles in IoT  projects. As the number of devices, the scale of IoT projects  (and volumes of – heterogeneous – data)  and the need for faster intelligence, better security and more integration grows, so does the need for IoT gateways. What is an IoT Gateway? A gateway is a data communication device that provides a remote network with connectivity to a host network. A gateway device provides communication to a remote network or an autonomous system that is out of bounds for the host network nodes. Gateways serve as the entry and exit point of a network; all data routed inward or outward must first pass through and communicate with the gateway in order to use routing paths. Generally, a router is configured to work as a gateway device in computer networks. For example, your home Internet gateway connects your Local Area Network (LAN) to your Internet Service Pr...

The Internet of Things (IoT)

Image
Hello everyone this article is about The Internet of Things (IoT) .   IoT Definitions:   The term Internet of Things generally refers to scenarios where network connectivity and computing capability extends to objects, sensors and everyday items not normally considered computers, allowing these devices to generate, exchange and consume data with minimal human intervention. There is, however, no single, universal definition. IoT Definitions How does the Internet of Things works ? IoT devices use their inbuilt systems, such as processors, sensors, and communication hardware, to collect data. These web-enabled smart devices then transfer the data to other devices to provide better services and address specific needs.  Each remotely controllable object has its own identity card that makes it unique and recognizable, in most cases an IP address. It is this numerical identification number that will allow to find this object and to give it instructions from a computer ...
